Filmmaking 101
What does a director actually do? What makes a good script? Why is editing so important? Over the course of this year, Bell House Films will answer these questions and many more with its series of ‘Filmmaking 101’ events.
Every month, an industry professional will host an online tutorial, where they will delve into the fundamentals of a specific filmmaking discipline.
Third tutorial: The Camera
Filmmaking 101’s third tutorial will cover the camera, from smartphone filmmaking to understanding focal lengths and exposure. It will be hosted by director and resident Bell House filmmaker Dan Robb.
Who is this for?
For anyone and everyone with an interest in film, ‘Filmmaking 101’ is for you. You don’t need experience, you don’t need kit, you just need to bring your creativity and your curiosity.
About Dan Robb:
Dan has been involved in the theatre and film business for over twenty years. Having trained initially as an actor, he co-founded and ran his own theatre company, Badac.
His passion for cinema led him into the film industry, where he worked at a number of film companies developing scripts for the screen. He also developed, alongside Chapman Entertainment, a pilot for a children’s television series, which he wrote and co-created. He is the director of Perspective Films, a film production company which creates compelling online content for businesses and charities.
Booking information:
The cost of this individual tutorial is £15. Discounted tickets at £10 are available for under 18s. We have 2 free/bursary tickets available for those unable to pay the full price. Please email your request to filmmaking@bellhouse.co.uk
All proceeds are shared between the workshop leader and Bell House, a volunteer-run educational charity.
