Suicide is the biggest killer of young people in the UK.

Doctor Sangeeta Mahajan shares with us her extensive insights in teen mental health, risk factors, things to look out for and where to get help.

Sangeeta is a doctor with a keen interest in the workings of young minds, their design, their expression and their challenges she have come to learn about the NHS and its limitations when it comes to looking after young people. She is a mental health activist and educator, a qualified trainer in Youth Mental Health First aid. She has trained many teachers to identify students in difficulty at an early stage.

Through writing and speaking, she endeavours to engage with as many people as she can so to help prevent young suicide through raising awareness and reducing stigma. She has empowered people with skills so that they can understand the vulnerabilities of those around them and be aware of their own fragility. She aims to enhance the confidence of parents, teachers and carers by supporting them with knowledge on how to interface with services and resources. She has also worked with bereaved families, enabling them to cope.
